Best time to visit

The best time to visit Zanzibar is between June and September when the weather is cool and dry. October to February are the rainy months.

Everything you should know before you go

Before packing your bags and heading off to Zanzibar, there are a few things you should know. For one, the official language is Swahili, though English is also widely spoken.

The currency is the the Kenyan Shilling (KES).

The electrical sockets are of the British three-pin type. Although in luxury hotels, they also provide this for you.

The food is a mix of Arabic, Indian and African influences.

Additionally, while Zanzibar is generally a safe country to visit but it is always important to be aware of your surroundings.
