In the lobby, The sounds of gently cascading waterfalls calm your senses as you are greeted with kindness and a smile by someone like Mariano- always eager to help and make you feel welcome. And the aquarium inspired details continue as you take the spacious elevators upwards to the room that will be your Barcelona home.
Floor to ceiling elevator windows unveil a shimmering white and gray pillar with submarine vibes. This will follow you up to the top floor where La Terraza del Claris and the pool are waiting to greet you. This is where the decor shifts to a bright white and airy feel, with a splash of Moroccan lanterns and cacti. 24/7 Reception Desk
At reception in the evening, Arshad was always there to help me with my transit questions, or to schedule early morning taxis. He always gave me the warmest welcome after enjoying a night out in the incredible city of Barcelona. This was so comforting for me to have- especially while traveling solo. Located in the Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona, Hotel Claris will allow you to walk to or easily access all of the must do’s in Barcelona. From amazing restaurants to high end shopping, to La Sagrada Familia and Gaudi’s Casa Battlló. This is the neighborhood that sets you up to see everything on your list without hassle.
Hotel Claris is a 25 minute car ride to the airport, and an 18 minute walk to La Sagrada Familia. I walked to most places easily, or took the subway without a problem.
The Rooftop: The Perfect Escape from the heat
I enjoyed La Terraza del Claris every day that I was there. With a Pool, couches, tables, and a restaurant, it was the perfect escape from the Spanish heat. When I arrived in Barcelona fresh off the plane from Chicago, it was quite early in the day. My room wouldn’t be ready for a few hours, So I checked my luggage, and the staff sent me off to the 7th floor rooftop so I could start my Barcelona Holiday.
La Terraza del Claris is a desert haven that gave me glamorous old Hollywood vibes. Soulful jazz sang to me while I enjoyed a glass of cava, perfectly salted potato chips, and Spanish sunshine that I swear shot me with a dart of bliss. Ornate Barcelona rooftops only added to this ambiance as I dipped my toes in the pool and plotted my itinerary.
You need a rooftop pool in your life
Truly, on a hot Barcelona day, there is nothing quite like taking a break from looking at all of Gaudi’s architecture and artistry all over the city and coming home to a rooftop pool! Trust me. You will thank me when you are enjoying a glass of rosé poolside.

At Hotel Claris, Breakfast and room service are available, along with babysitting services, parking and a pool. This hotel also has a full service, Mayan inspired spa, a gym, and a multilingual staff. Hotel Claris is Wheel-Chair accessible, and they ask that you contact them with accessibility needs when you make your reservation.
The Rooms
The room I stayed in exuded warmth all while being the perfect temperature. Thank goodness for Air Conditioning in the summertime! Comfortable beds, and numerous pillows of varying firmness had me sleeping like a baby every night. After getting off of a plane from the USA this was much needed! The ample closet space was also much appreciated. I’m not one to pack lightly when I’m gone for a month on my summer holiday.

During the day, the staff would clean my room with care and always made sure I had a bottle of water and Nespresso pods for my coffee habit. A complimentary mini bar was also there for me to embibe as needed- cleverly hidden in the dresser.
A Holiday for your senses
Walking into my room was an immediate holiday for my senses every time they made up my room. The entry way was filled with a scent that I’d normally enjoy in a spa, but at Hotel Claris they brought it to a place that was even better! My hotel room. The aroma was therapeutic and fresh, making me smile every time. It’s the smallest detail but it creates an ambiance that allows for such a pleasant welcome home.
Turn down service
The turn down service was a lovely touch. The motorized blackout shades would already be drawn, with a piece of decadent dark chocolate sitting on my pillow. This helped me wind down after a day of sightseeing, and enjoying tapas and sangria out on the town.
I became accustomed to the luxurious robe, cozy slippers and the beautiful sensory experience that was my bathroom. It was quite spacious, equipped with products that smelled divine, along with a bathtub, rain shower, and removable shower head. These are 3 things that I will never take for granted when I travel.
